Toshiba Notebook Battery
by toshibasatellite on Nov.30, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

Dell announced a recall today of lithium-ion batteries sold in many of our notebook computers over the past two years. Toshiba Laptop Battery You may have seen the recent New York Times story or have seen other details in the blogosphere. As the leader of the mobile business for Dell, Toshiba Tecra 8000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 8100 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, I wanted to share my thoughts on this recall.
Lithium-ion is a proven technology which has been widely used in our industry for over ten years. These batteries are not just for notebook computers – they are found in many electronic products including cell phones and music players. For more information on lithium-ion safety, you can visit the Portable Rechargeable Battery Association.
I don’t mind telling you this recall follows an extensive investigation, but the decision to err on the side of safety was never in doubt. My team and I come to work in Austin and around the world every day so we can put great products in the hands of our customers. There were very few incidents to go on here, and it would have been easy to justify them as anomalies. However, we’re not willing to do that, because in everything that we do, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, it is absolutely about safety first.
This is a voluntary recall of approximately 4.1 million batteries, making it one of the largest in Dell’s history. Many of you are thinking that this action is a direct result of the notebook fire at a business meeting in Osaka, Japan back in June, as well as a couple of other incidents that have been posted on the Internet.
The fact is, we are looking at safety data every single day,Toshiba Tecra 8000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 8100 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, and this did not start when we heard about the incident in Osaka. Our technical support agents are trained to look out for anything that comes up on a call that might be indicative of a safety matter, no matter how small. When we hear about these things, we work with the customer to get them a new replacement system right away, so they can get back up and running. We then work with the customer to get the affected system back to Dell (we call this a “capture”) so we can take a good, hard look at it. Dell has a global safety organization with engineers and experts at our centers around the world. In most of these cases, we are able to determine that the cause of the customer complaint is not a hazard for other customers. Nevertheless, we learn a lot from our customers’ experience and we use this information in the future development of our products. Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery,That’s one reason it’s great having a direct relationship with our customers.
In very rare instances, a real safety hazard does present itself. In these cases, the customer captured systems are sent through a detailed forensic analysis, kind of like what you would see on “CSI.” Dell has extensive lab capability for these investigations and a lot of the work is done right here. We also work with third-party labs to complete and verify this analysis, because we value independent outside opinions. In any case, our safety engineers are involved every step of the way.
Analyzing the data is the tricky part—that’s what brought us to where we are today. Toshiba Tecra 8000 Battery,We’re lucky that in being direct we have access not only to real-time customer data, but also can correlate that information with data from our component supply partners such as Sony, who is the manufacturer of the battery cells in this particular case. We look at product performance data all the time, but we give it extra scrutiny when there is a problem that might impact our customers and their well being. In this case, there was not much to go on, especially considering how few incidents there were in relation to how many notebooks Dell sells as the largest notebook brand worldwide. Since we engage directly with our customers and build every system to each customer’s unique order, we know what product we have shipped to whom. We are now focused on communicating to those notebook customers impacted by this recall and making the replacement process as simple as possible. Some might say we are being conservative and even overreacting in taking this broad action, but even one more incident is too many.
On behalf of Dell, I’d like to apologize to all affected customers.Toshiba Tecra 8000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 8100 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, Above all else, your safety is important to us. We also understand that the work that you do on your notebook is invaluable to you, and we’re committed to getting replacement batteries shipped out to you as quickly as we can.
To determine if your laptop battery is part of this recall, you can go here. This website will be live shortly after midnight Central Time. Toshiba Tecra 8000 Battery,This site is now live. You’ll find answers to FAQs and new information as it is available here on Direct2Dell.
How to Test a Laptop Charger
by toshibasatellite on Nov.29, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

o Test a Laptop Charger
Laptop computers are one of the many items that we use that depends on a rechargeable laptop battery to keep it up and running. When your laptop fails to stay charged or to charge at all, it is time to troubleshoot the issue on your own before paying a professional. First test the charger to make sure that it is working properly.
You can test your laptop battery charger follow the below steps
Be sure that the charger is plugged into a working outlet and getting power.
Try to run the laptop from the laptop charger only; if it will not run off the charger alone then the charger is faulty or no longer any good to power the battery. In some cases your laptop will run off the charger, but the charger will not be strong enough to charge the laptop. In this case you have a faulty charger.
Try charging your laptop with the laptop powered off. Sometimes the charger will charge the laptop when it is powered completely off, but not when it is on. If it only charges the Toshiba laptop battery when the laptop is off, then you have a faulty charger.
Check the battery for corrosion and/or leakage. If there is a sign of either corrosion or leakage you will need to stop attempting to use the battery pack and replace it immediately.
Test your charger with a voltmeter. If it is an AC charger of battery, set a voltmeter to 25 VAC. Make the contacts and probes touch, and look for a reading. If there is not a reading on the meter, the charger is not any good. For DC chargers, set a voltmeter to 25 VDC and make the contacts and probes touch. The meter should read at least 1V more than the chargers rating. If it does not, the probes need to be switched.
The elegance of a Samurai Materialized as Toshiba laptops
by toshibasatellite on Nov.29, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

It is said that the way in which a Samurai moves his blade resembles the dancing moves of a baller dancer in terms of smoothness of movement and elegance. The former one is an glorious figment of the past while the latter one is the florescent delight of the present.
However, the companies that have been formed in Japan do echo the aforementioned elegance coupled with the ‘dead on target’ efficiency in the form of consistently launching products that have been setting benchmarks for all other companies in the world.
One of the companies which has its headquarter is Toshiba and just like its Japanese contemporaries, it also maintains an extremely visible level of efficiency and performance in the creation of its products. The products themselves turn out to be ones which are extremely dependable, reliable and durable apart from effectively serving their respective purposes. Toshiba laptops are one group of such products which are certainly going to the next level of performance when it comes to having features and facilities.
The laptop was brought out in the market to give the customer the services of a personal computer on a mobile platform. Laptops are devices, which are essentially computers, however, they can be carried around quite easily. The latest laptops that are coming out in the market today are deemed with the name ‘notebooks’ because they certainly resemble oversized notebooks by virtue of their size.
Toshiba laptops and notebooks are known all over the world for providing the latest technologies and software along with extremely high processing speeds and wonderful screen resolutions.
Some of the examples that are currently doing extremely well all over the world are:
1.Toshiba Ultra Light 1.76lb Portege R600
2.Toshiba Qosmio X308-Q708 Gaming laptop
3.Toshiba Qosmio F45
4.Libretto U100
Although company owned showrooms along with retail outlets selling Toshiba laptops are present all over the world, however, they have in their fray a new medium or rather a new platform for purchasing laptops that have been made by Toshiba.
This platform is none other than the Internet and the world today sees an extensive use of a concept called online shopping which allows users to shop for products online using these shopping websites.
The age now is that of B2C transactions which take place within minutes and, therefore, laptops that are made by Toshiba are also sold online as well.
The brand Toshiba is one that is known all over the world and, therefore, the corresponding products are likely to have a good demand in the market.
Hence, all the shopping websites that are there today in the world are including laptops made by the company Toshiba in their respective product portfolios.
Hence, the customer now has the option of just sitting around lazily in a chair and pressing (equally lazily) just a few buttons leading to the purchase of a laptop which then gets delivered right at their doorstep, irrespective of their location in the world. Toshiba is certainly gaining oodles of financial benefits from having its products sold online. Toshiba laptops are, therefore, being sold in every country all over the world from some website or other.
The customer would prefer buying those products which are cheap. Toshiba laptops also measure up to the expectations of the users in this regard as well due to having come out with many affordable products.
Hence, it can be said that this company is doing quite well in the business of creating and selling laptops and that too on a global scale.
Cheap Gaming Laptops – Where to Find Them?
by toshibasatellite on Nov.29, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

Copyright (c) 2008 Titus Hoskins
As a general rule, gaming laptops are not cheap, they are usually the most expensive laptops you can purchase. If you go with a fully-loaded high-end gaming machine from the popular brand-name makers you will likely have to dish out 4 to 6 grand for the top rigs.
However, since all laptop prices have been falling at a steady rate in recent years, if you shop around you can find a half-decent gaming laptop at a reasonable price. Here we’re still talking about $1500 to $2500 for a good quality gaming notebook. Although there are probably cheaper ones to be found if you look in the right places.
Now, the main reason gaming laptops are so expensive is because of the high-end components and high-end specs that’s needed to produce a superior gaming machine. In a gaming laptop you need top-level Graphics (CPUs), High Processor Speeds, tons of RAM, high-end HD Displays and high-end Optical Drives featuring Blu-ray and the like.
Of course, if you’re buying a flashy brand-name gaming laptop like those produced by Alienware or Rock, you will be paying extra for all that style and flash. Now, if money is no object, going with these top brand-names could probably be your best bet if you’re playing the name game. Also keep in mind, you don’t always have to buy the really expensive “flag-ship” models; going with an entry-level gaming laptop from Alienware or Rock can make them more affordable for the average gamer.
However, if you’re on a really tight budget (and who isn’t these days) then you have other options when buying a completely good quality gaming laptop. You might not get all the “bells and whistles” but you will get a fast, high-performance gaming machine that will let you play the latest 3D video games on your laptop.
Before you even begin your search, you will have to decide whether or not you’re ruling out the possibility of purchasing a refurbished or even a used gaming laptop. If you know what you’re doing, some excellent bargains can be had with online auction sites like eBay. Just make sure you thoroughly check out the seller and product before you buy.
Refurbished laptops is another option you can take, just make sure you have some iron-clad guarantees or warranties if you’re buying a refurbished gaming laptop. Also remember, check around in your own local area… in hard economic times many perfectly good gaming notebooks may be offered for sale so check your local newspaper ads and online places like Craigslist to see if you can pick up a quality gaming rig at a very reasonable price.
Next, if you’re in the market for new gaming laptop, there are several lower price models you could consider.
Gateway P-7811FX ($1,449)
The Gateway P-7811FX is one rather inexpensive laptop you should check out if you’re searching for good gaming laptop at a reasonable price. It sports a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor with 4GB, 667MHz DDR3 memory, 200GB 7200rpm, Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS and a HD-friendly 1920×1200 17.1 inch display.
Which is great value for your money and if you’re on a tight budget, you should consider this one.
Qosmio X305 ($1,500 – $2000)
Toshiba has recently launched its Qosmio X305 series of gaming laptops featuring two NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS SLI graphics cards. With Intel Core2 Duo Processor P8400 and 4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM memory – these beauties can handle the most demanding Direct X 10 games and applications.
Throw in Toshiba great 17″ Diagonal TruBrite Widescreen Display for full 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+) resolution and 4 Harman/Kardon speakers with a Subwoofer and you have a good quality gaming machine at a reasonable price.
Know Your Clevo
Furthermore, experienced gamers know their “Clevo” – this is the Taiwan-based notebook maker ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) who supplies many of the Brand-name Boutique OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) like Falcon, M-TECH, Sager, Rock… with the necessary components and models. By comparing the prices on these Clevo models offered by the different OEMs, you can find the cheapest price that’s offered. You can save hundreds, if not thousands off by shopping around and finding the best priced Clevo.
These are just but a few examples of finding a relatively cheap gaming laptop, if you’re on the hunt for a good quality gaming rig. But there are many more out there, so shop around and cover all your bases.
Happy hunting!
Toshiba Laptops – Reliable, High-tech and Low on Budget
by toshibasatellite on Nov.29, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

Many of us use our laptops for work where durability and reliability is of utmost importance. Due to technological advancements, most of the laptops in the market today are much more durable than they once were. Nevertheless, in terms of track record and support, there are a few brands than leads the rest of the pack. Japanese companies such as Toshiba and Fujitsu are infamous for producing very durable computers. Here is a quick review of the Toshiba Satellite laptop series, a favorite among corporate users and professionals.
Toshiba Satellite laptops have been in the market for more than 10 years now and it is showing no signs of decline when it comes sales and popularity. This laptop series is designed for a very specific niche market – business and professional users. They may not be the prettiest or most stylish models in the market but they are way more reliable and practical than many other laptops.
Toshiba Satellite laptops have a no-nonsense, no frills attitude to it. Everything about it is extremely functional. For work and business, you will find everything that you need there. If you don’t need it, you won’t find it on the laptop. There are way to many notebooks out there with lots of bells and whistle features that we hardly use. The Satellite series has an ergonomic layout that is designed for maximum comfort during prolonged usage.
Another selling factor for this series is its reasonable price tag. Despite its powerful specs (and impressive track record), these notebooks are often much cheaper than its counterparts from other brands. The Toshiba Satellite A355-S6924 (2.2GHz Intel T6600 processor) and the A355-S6931 (2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 processor are currently the most popular models in Toshiba laptops in India. The former model has 250GB of memory while the latter has a 320GB hard disk.
They both come with Intel’s X4500MHD graphics card and built it Harman Kardon stereo speakers. If you are looking for a well priced, heavy duty, powerful, sleek, reliable laptop, a Toshiba Satellite laptop will be your perfect choice.
Two things about battery-life measurements for laptops
by toshibasatellite on Nov.29, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., is showcasing all of its latest educational products at the 2009 National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) being held at the Washington D.C. Convention Center (Booth #3218), June 28 to July 1, 2009. Toshiba’s mobile offerings for education include its newest mini NB205 for note-taking and laptop Toshiba PA3399U-1BRS battery training in early grades. Other offerings range from high-performance thin and light laptops like the Tecra® R10 and Portégé® R600 to the award-winning Portégé M750 Tablet PCs.
Two things about battery-life measurements for laptops: First, they usually bear little relationship to reality. I don’t know about you, but my “five-hour”often dies halfway between J.F.K. and LAX.
Claiming to be the industry’s first tablet PC with multitouch technology, Dell(NSDQ:Dell) ’s Latitude XT2 laptop has a 12.1-inch WXGA (1280-x-800) LED touch-screen display that allows the user to control things like scrolling, panning, rotating and zooming, with simple gestures.
At the 2008 annual Usenix conference in Boston, Andrew Leung, a computer science researcher at the University of California, presented a finding that just about everyone must have suspected: The majority of an organization’s stored data sits untouched.
Adesso’s new Slimtouch Ergo wireless keyboard doesn’t just give you a set of keys — it also gives you a touchpad, like what you’d find on a laptop. That’s a plus for users who want complete control without having to find a flat surface for a mouse. However, the keys’ layout was more cumbersome than ergonomic, and the exclusion of certain features was puzzling.
Not only is this Dell Juicz Battery the only external Dell Inspiron 6000 battery available, but it’s also the only means of extending the laptop’s mobile power.
How is this unprecedented ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC Battery 8Cell battery power possible? The battery inside the QuickerTek product is actually several batteries fused together. These lithium-ion batteries provide 124Wh capacity – the highest charge density per gram of weight available anywhere. The Dell Juicz also comes with a 120/240 volt AC battery charger for fast recharges.
Can you imagine rolling your SUV downhill with an idle engine, in an attempt to meet the millage expectation that you were first promised when you bought it? It seems as if consumers are becoming less immune to the failures of these pompous claims made by automakers.
Laptop Battery Care
by toshibasatellite on Nov.29, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

“How do I extend the life of my laptop battery?” is a question we are frequently asked. It’s a valid question since laptop batteries are usually expensive to replace.
First of all, how long should your laptop battery last? 2-4 years is generally acceptable depending on how frequently you use and charge the battery. If you travel a lot and use and charge your battery frequently then you might only get a couple of years at the most out of your laptop battery.
Laptop batteries are usually made with Li-Ion batteries and the very nature of Li-Ion batteries is that they have about 300-500 charges and last at most about 4-5 years (shelf life). They also have a self-discharge rate of about 1% per day so you need to be sure to charge them at least every 6 months.
So how can you care for your laptop battery to get the maximum life out of it?
1.) Always use your laptop on a hard surface.
Laptops are portable and it’s easy to set your laptop on your lap or on your bed and use it at your lesiure. That’s one of the benefits of having a portable computer. Flexibility. But if you want to extend your battery life you have to watch out for overheating your laptop.
Heat is one of the biggest obstacles to battery life longevity. Your laptop computer fan cannot circulate the air properly when your laptop is sitting on soft surface.
2.) Do not keep your laptop battery installed when you use your laptop on AC for an extended period of time.
While your laptop is undoubtedly using a smart charger to charge your battery even a constant trickle charge over months can reduce your battery life. For best results, only charge your battery when you need to charge it, don’t leave the laptop battery plugged in all the time.
More importantly than the trickle charger affect is the ’storage’ of a Li-Ion battery at elevated temperatures. The optimum storage temperature for a Li-Ion battery is at 0 deg. C. The optimum storage charge level is about 40%. Unfortunately we tend to store fully charged and at the temperatures found in a running laptop you’ll find a significant reduction in battery performance after only 12-18 months.
3.) Use a full charge cycle before recharging
Li-Ion and NiMH batteries (which most laptop batteries are), do not have a memory which you might find in NiCad batteries. However, each chemistry has a limited number of charge cycles, so use a full charge cycle before re-charging to maximize your battery usage.
Because this may be very difficult to manage, you’ll need to consider the cost-benefit ratio for keeping track of how far discharged the battery is before you charge it again.

4.) Be careful where you store your laptop
This goes back to the heat issue. Don’t leave your laptop in the car where it can get very hot. Batteries hate heat and your laptop battery will go on strike permenantly if you expose it to too much heat.
Remember that all laptops are not created equal. You may have gotten 4 hours from your last laptop while on battery, but your new laptop might pull more juice to run that gaming quality processor, or the power hogging programs you’re running now. Read your owner’s manual to find out what you should expect from your laptop battery and be sure to compare apples to apples when purchasing a replacement battery. Not all laptop batteries are made to the same specs. We recommend buying a battery that has at least as much capacity as your original battery (that’s the mAh rating), and preferrably the same chemistry as well.
If you simply aren’t sure what to get, check with a professional. Our customer service staff are trained to know how to compare batteries and they are happy to help find the right fit for your laptop.
Big Screen Windows Phones – Htc Touch Hd Vs. Toshiba Tg01
by toshibasatellite on Nov.28, 2009, under Toshiba satellite laptop

With Windows Mobile making its big charge into the world of high-end media phones, devices with big screens are naturally going to do better. Let\’s take a look at the two biggest screens on the market today: the HTC Touch HD and the stunning Toshiba TG01.
HTC Touch HD – go with the FLO
Windows Mobile is an incredibly powerful beast, and it\’s run in some of the most powerful phones on the planet. However, when you get down to it, some of the icons and menus can be a little bit, well, fiddly. In taking over the Windows design ethos to mobile phones, Microsoft carried over things like scrollbars, which, when translated to a smaller screen, are pretty much only realistically usable with a stylus. That\’s why so many phones are coming out with their own interface on top of Windows, and why phones with bigger screens are the best option.
If you\’re talking big screens, there\’s no way you can avoid the HTC Touch HD, as for a few months, it held the record for the biggest screen seen on a mobile phone. At 3.8 inches, it is truly vast, and the high, 800×480 resolution makes it genuinely easy to use things like scrollbars in menus. However, the HTC Touch HD actually does a very good job of making it so you don\’t have to go into standard Windows menus that often, as on top of the operating system, the interface is HTC\’s patented TouchFLO 3D setup, where everything is achieved through various finger swipes and sweeping gestures. It is truly intuitive, and it\’s the reason why the HTC Touch HD is such an unmitigated joy to use. Of course, it\’s not all about being pretty, a phone needs to have decent features and the HTC Touch HD has them in spades, from the 5 megapixel camera, through GPS, to incredibly fast HSDPA internet access (not to mention the superb Opera Mobile web browser). To any, the HTC Touch HD is the ultimate Windows Mobile phone.
However, it no longer has the honour of having the biggest screen in the land, because it\’s been usurped by a phone from a company who have not much of a history of making mobile phones at all…
Toshiba TG01 – the new benchmark
For several months, the HTC Touch HD held the crown as having the biggest screen on a mobile phone, but that\’s not true any more, because the Toshiba TG01 tops it. Coming in at a massive 4.1 inches, it\’s almost half an inch bigger than screen on the HD, so for things like the internet, and videos, the Toshiba TG01 is really the king of the hill. It\’s not just about screen size, though, because the Toshiba TG01 also has processing power. Lots of it. Its chipset comes in at over 1GHz, taking into realms only previously available on laptops. And since it\’s a new generation of \’Snapdragon\’ processor, it\’s also incredibly efficient, meaning it won\’t drain your battery in minutes. The Toshiba TG01 is truly a wondrous device, and is quite simply (having stolen the crown from the Touch HD and the X1 Xperia from Sony Ericsson) the most powerful Windows Mobile phone ever made!
